Professional Interests:

Verity Coulter has provided a range of occupational rehabilitation services to Workers Compensation Insurers, both when required and as part of preferred provider schemes, managing work related injuries; and to a range of employers as part of employee assistance schemes managing prolonged employee sick leave. For the past fourteen years, Verity Coulter has taken particular interest in injury prevention, as well as managing injuries once at the workplace, to minimise the risk of injuries from recurring. In doing so, Verity Coulter has enjoyed providing information on static muscle fatigue, ergonomic factors and manual handling techniques.

In addition Verity Coulter has provided task analysis and occupational therapy assessments for home modifications as well as prescribing varying aids and appliances, and medico-legal assessments. Verity Coulter has provided specialist occupational therapy opinions for the Motor Accident Insurance Board and Motor Accidents Tribunal (Tasmania); the Tasmanian Magistrates Court; the Tasmanian Workers Rehabilitation and Workers Compensation Tribunal; and the Supreme Court of New South Wales. Verity Coulter has experience in the management of spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury, following her role as the Care Manager for the Motor Accidents Insurance Board between 2000 and 2002. Verity Coulter has been a board member of Headway Support Services for over 14 years.

In 2008, Verity Coulter provided specialist occupational therapy services to Hydro Tasmania, which was awarded the Overall Winner for the Work Cover Safety Awards, as well as the best Workplace Health and Well Being Program by Work Cover Tasmania. In 2003, Verity Coulter also provided specialist occupational therapy services to Norske Skog Boyer, which was awarded the gold medal for the Best Return to Work Program at the Tasmania Workplace Standards Awards. Verity Coulter has worked closely with Norske Skog Australia since, to achieve 5 years lost time injury free in June 2009.
